Description

2004 - 2008 Research project: “Trivsel og Boligform” [Well-being and Housing] The “Trivsel og Boligform” [Well-being and Housing] project is a comprehensive research project commissioned and financed by the National Board of Social Services. The project aims at uncovering and systematising existing research-based knowledge in relation to well-being and type of accommodation for the elderly that need care and to present research-based knowledge that can be used by decision-makers of Danish municipal authorities in connection with the establishment of accommodation for senior citizens. CAST University of Southern Denmark is collaborating with the Institute for Architecture & Design at Aalborg University on the project. The research project was commenced at the beginning of 2004 and is due to be completed by the turn of the year 2007/08 although the initial results will already begin to appear at the end of 2004. The research project itself consists of a number of projects including a survey of residential care facilities. A survey of recent, current (4 cases), and planned projects for residential care facilities will be initiated. The aim is to acquire up-to-date knowledge on the residential care facility projects that Danish municipal authorities have realised within the last 3 years and those that are currently in the process of being implemented. As the subproject is aimed at providing knowledge that can be used in the future, the project does not include dwellings that were built before 2000. The subproject will provide important knowledge on municipal activities in the area of residential care facilities as well as discussing the roles of different actors in the decision making process.
