    Description

    EU TMR network with funding for transnational pre- and post-doc positions, travel, and workshops to stimulate mobility of young researchers between the European countries. VIRGO is a network of 10 European laboratories from 8 countries, and the network is specifically oriented towards research in computer vision based navigation systems for mobile robots. CVMT heads the network's research effort in visual memory for such navigation systems. An Italian pre-doc student was employed at CVMT for the lab's share of the network funding, and his research focused Automatic Acquisition of Visual Landmarks (see project description below). Funded for 5 years by EU Training and Mobility in Research (TMR) until July 31st, 2001. (Claus B. Madsen, Erik Granum; Salvatore Livatino, Italy)
