Description

The objective of the project is to design, create and characterize optimally nano-structured organic solar cells by developing and using mixtures of nano-particles from environmentally friendly aqueous dispersions. The aim of this approach is to pave the way for a new Danish industry with opportunities for establishing production and marketing in China. Denmark has already industry with the relevant competencies within printing, nanotechnology and solar cell printing in particular, but presently none with established interests in China.
The prospect of developing organic solar cells into a new GW energy technology entails a substantial risk of creating new environmental problems if the present state-of-the-art organic solar cell technology is simply up-scaled, with its heavy use of chlorinated and aromatic solvents. Our aim is to provide a water-based technology that is environmentally friendly both in terms of toxicity, material handling and energy use.
We aim to develop technology that provides an easy entry in organic solar cell manufacture for Danish industry and to help establish new collaborations together with our Chinese partners.
