Abstract

This paper presents the results of a series 1g model tests with both a circular and a strip foundation on dense sand. The test results have been compared with the results from finite element calculations based on a non linear Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion taking into account the dependence of the magnitude of the friction
angle on the stress level at the instant of failure. Good agreement between test results and numerical calculations has been found.
