Abstract

This paper presents a new DC/AC boost transformerless converter in the applications of photovoltaic (PV) power generation. A new circuit topology of single phase full bridge power inverter with additional DC/DC boost stage is proposed. The proposed topology overcomes two commonly existing shortcomings of transformerless PV system: namely one, the voltage generated sometimes low and insufficient to fulfill the load requirement; and two, there always leakage current flowing through parasitic capacitance between PV panel and ground. This configuration helps to boost the voltage at the PV side, and then converts the DC into AC to supply the load. A special modulation technique is proposed to eliminate the leakage current which is commonly presents in PV transformerless power generation, helps to increase the system efficiency and output performance.
