Abstract

A novel topology and its control are proposed to obtain a unique functionality from single-phase electric spring (ESs). An additional transformer with two ports is introduced in the reference scheme, where one port takes the place of the noncritical load (NCL) and the other one is connected in series to NCL. With the help of the recently introduced δ control, the balanced points of ES are modified compared to the ones of the existing topology. With the novel topology and the adapted control, the voltage across NCL can be increased with the line voltage and vice versa. Single-phase phase-locked loop (PLL) and dynamic modeling are illustrated using vector diagrams and mathematical derivations. Effectiveness of the proposed ES topology and its control is validated by simulation results.
