Abstract

We present a set of names, standard definitions, symbols, units and ASCII symbols for the common parameters used to describe semiconductor lasers. These were developed as part of the European-Union's COST-240 project 'Techniques for modelling and measurement of advanced photonic telecommunications devices', which brought together many views from representatives of the European photonics community.
