Abstract

In this work, a simple wavetrap-based decoupling method is proposed to suppress the mutual coupling among the antenna elements in a single antenna array. The proposed wavetrap structure consists of a transmission line and a resistor which are in series. By placing two wavetraps between two patch antennas, the isolation between the two corresponding ports can be significantly improved over a wide frequency band. Theoretical analyses and full-wave simulations are carried out to verify the decoupling performance of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed approach features well-designed decoupling characteristics, and can be widely used for large-scale arrays.
