Abstract

The use of converters in flexible traction substation (FTSS) paves the way to optimize the power distribution of flexible traction power supply system (FTPSS). In this paper, the active and reactive power optimization control used for FTPSS is proposed. The proposed active power optimization control can coordinate the output active power of FTSSs and reduce the active power consumed in the traction network by controlling the output voltage phase angle difference of FTSSs without any communication links with the train in FTPSS. The proposed reactive power optimization control strategy coordinates the output reactive power of FTSSs adaptively by considering the capacity and output voltage limitation of FTSS and ensures the safety of FTPSS. A simulation model based on MATLAB/Simulink and an experimental platform have been established to verify the effectiveness of the proposed power optimization control.
