Abstract
An increasing penetration level of photovoltaic (PV) systems demands a more advanced control functionality. Flexible power control strategy such as constant power generation (CPG) control has been introduced in the recent grid regulations to mitigate challenging issues such as overloading, intermittency power generation/fluctuation, and frequency regulation capability. In this chapter, an overview of CPG strategy will be discussed. Different approaches to realize the CPG strategy for grid-connected PV inverter will be presented and their performance will be evaluated. With the advanced CPG control, the power control flexibility of the PV system can be improved, similar to the conventional power plants, ensuring a proper grid integration.
