Abstract
For a great number of cyber physical systems both in practical and theoretical settings, the preprocessing of data needed for planning and control is often partly neglected in terms of its importance. Most pre-processing methods are not incorporated in research papers, despite the pre-processing taking up most of the computational work conducted in systems. In this paper, we present an improved pre-processing method for one such cyber physical system and its associated scheduling problem, namely the earth observation satellite scheduling problem, and illustrates the performance improvements one can obtain through proper data pre-processing.
