Abstract

The structure design of transfer line between the furnace and the vacuum column in the crude oil distillation unit is very important for the operation stability and the evaporation rate increase in the vacuum distillation unit. To optimize the design process, a two-phase flashing flow model, which was proposed in earlier study, was applied and a retrofitted structure of a transfer line was developed. The simulation results for pressure drops, temperature drops and evaporation rates of the two kinds of transfer lines according to an industrial instance were compared. The results show that the two-phase flow pressure drop can be decreased and the outlet evaporation rate can be improved with the retrofitted transfer line.
