Abstract

The purpose of this report is to identify performance gaps in the regional innovation ecosystems and among the regional innovation ecosystems of the SMILE partners and identify how the SMILE project can contribute to closing these gaps as well as inspire the development of the regions of associate partners.

For universities a means of leveraging innovation projects and startups in the smart manufacturing area is to build a scouting function and a matchmaking function that can discover opportunities of technology, talent, and market needs searching inside and outside the universities. A descriptive analysis of the regional innovation ecosystem is expedient while aiming to design scouting, matchmaking, and Open Entrepreneurship setups in the universities of the SMILE consortium.
