    Abstract

What decides whether a housing area functions well and has satisfied residents? Do mixed forms of ownership or the composition of residents signify? Or is it the quality of the individual dwelling? The present report clarifies this correlation in five housing estates in Odense: In Blangstedgård and Seden Syd there is a mixture of non-profit housing, private housing and cooperative housing, and in the three estates in Vollsmose only non-profit housing exists. Results show that i.a. mixed housing estates may function well, but not necessarily better than purely non-profit housing. Especially one of the investigated estates in Vollsmose works just as well.
