Abstract

Near Field Beamforming is an important feature of reconflgurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). This presentation introduces the characterization of near-field beamforming with RIS. As a realization, some mechanically controlled and liquid-crystal-based RIS designs are reviewed mainly for mm-wave and THz applications.
