N1 - This report is a product of a joint effort between International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling (IEA SHC) Task 34 and Energy Conservation in Buildings and Community Systems (ECBCS) Annex 43. Ron Judkoff of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) was the Operating Agent for IEA 34/43
on behalf of the United States Department of Energy.

N2 - The scope of this subtask is to perform a comparative validation of the building simulation software for the buildings with the double skin façade. The outline of the results in the comparative validation identifies the areas where is no correspondence achieved, i.e. calculation of the air flow rate, surface temperatures heating load at night and cooling load in the peaks of solar gains etc. Meanwhile, the comparative exercises have built a strong foundation for the empirical test cases. Two main empirical test cases were identified, these correspond to the comparative test case DSF100_2 and DSF200_4, the third empirical test case is also specified as DSF400_3, but it's completion is under consideration. The comparative test cases can not be directly used for the validation of the software due to often disagreement of the results, however the result of the exercises is that the comparative validation can be regarded as the main argument to continue the validation of the building simulation software for the buildings with the double skin façade with the empirical validation test cases.
