Abstract
Objective：To examine the impact of personality and coping on posttraumatic stress disorder among surviving adolescents approximately 6 months after the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake.Methods：A total of 168 students from the 5th to 8th grade,were investigated with three questionnaires including CRIES-13,EPQ-Junior and Middle School Students＇ Coping Measure.Results：Both neuroticism and emotion-oriented coping were significantly related to PTSD symptoms.The correlation coefficient were 0.399（P〈0.01） and 0.367（P〈0.01） respectively.Results showed that these two variables explained 20.1% of the variance in the CRIES-13 together.With regard to the whole sample,emotion-oriented coping partly mediated the effect of neuroticism on PTSD symptoms.Conclusion：The present study suggested that personality is significantly related to PTSD.Coping works as a mediator between the above two variables.
