Abstract
A 500kW vibrating grate fired test facility for solid biomass fuels has been designed using numerical models including CFD. The CFD modelling has focussed on the nozzle layout and flowpatterns in the lower part of the furnace, and the results have established confidence in the chosen
design, indicating that the test facility will adequately provide conditions resembling those found in
full-scale industrial plants.
