Abstract
In this article, I explore the importance of participating in a conversation group for children who are living with divorce in their everyday life. I take a closer look at the variations in the chil-dren’s different ways of expressing their lives with divorce. Through an ethnographically inspired field-study based on 23 children’s interviews and six months of observations in four conversa-tion-groups in Zealand, Denmark, I explore how children in divorce make sense of their participa-tion in conversation groups. This includes how the professionals meet the children’s differences, and which opportunities the children have to challenge the dominant understandings of what it means to live an everyday life, as a child of divorced parents. The article documents broad varia-tions in children ́s experiences of a life with divorced parents and reveals the strong implications that these variations have for their possibilities for participation.
