Abstract

New, super-insulating, transparent and translucent glazing offers new perceptions for the use of glass in architecture. The super-insulating glazing is being tested in practice in the High-insulated Glass House in order to achieve good architecture, low energy consumption, good daylight conditions and a good thermal indoor climate during winter without unwanted heat during summer. The High-insulated Glass House is not necessarily the answer to the single-family house of the future but by going to the extremes in this house, experience was gained that can be widely used in future design of architecturally successful low-energy housing.
