Abstract

There is more to IT portfolio management than top-management making
the right decisions: A review of the IT PPM literature.

Organizations experience ongoing challenges in managing their portfolio of InformationTechnology (IT) as IT expenses are becoming a major part of the budget. Hence, organizations implement a wide range of IT portfolio management (IT PPM) arrangements to increase value from IT.

The literature vastly emphasizes the organizational benefits of establishing IT PPM, but only a minor part of the literature emphasizes the unintended and negative consequences of IT PPM.
