Abstract

This chapter offers insightful observations on the everyday commute by train between Copenhagen and Odense in Denmark during a period of just over a year. It offers a psychological perspective on how ‘people’ (the author included) preserve psychological and personal coherence during everyday mobilities, and how this relates to the ability and possibility of dwelling on the move. Such coherence is conceptualised as bodily practices of ‘dwelling’. Empirical examples highlight how passengers dwell on the train in relation to the physical setting, social interactions, embodied performances and personal aspects, with Jensen's Staging Mobilities analytical framework being used for reference purposes.
