    Abstract

Social innovation has the potential to strengthen social cohesion and to make public policy more responsive to the diverse needs of citizens. Education is an important area for social innovation, and educational practices – in the forms of informal learning as well as systematic training – can help foster social innovation and improve its quality. The fact that tension may occur between initiatives in social innovation and general principles of social justice should be taken into account in educational strategies for social innovation.
