Abstract

In the ever-evolving landscape of wireless commu-nication and radar systems, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have emerged as a transformative technology. This paper investigates the behavior of RIS using mechanical control. The authors performed parametric EM simulations of RIS single elements with different states of mechanical angles within the frequency range of 24-30 GHz. The optimum design of a unit cell for RIS performance depends on the shape of the array elements; hence, the EM simulation of the full array with the optimum element pattern provides valuable insights into the behavior of RIS.
