Abstract

In this paper we explore the emergence and evolution of industries. Specifically we investigate the episodes and epochs in the emergence and evolution of Danish Textile and Fashion Industry. We collected historical data on Danish Textile and Fashion Industry between 1945 and 2015. We employ radar charts to display and discuss the observations of the following variables of the industry: size, mission, location, knowledge, growth and structure. With this paper we aim to generate fine-grained, substantive case details that would contribute towards a better understanding of how new industries emerge and evolve - an intersection that traditionally has been studied independently from one another.
