Abstract

Extension of the Hanstholm harbour (Denmark) is being planned, including the construction of a new breakwater. Within the general frame of the development plan of the harbour, numerical modelling has been carried out using the ild-slope model MILDwave developed at Ghent University, for estimating the wave conditions along the planned breakwater, close to the Danish Wave Energy Centre (DanWEC). Numerical results of the wave climate in the study area are presented here, including validation of the performance of the wave breaking module implemented in MILDwave, showing very good agreement with analytical (Goda’ method) and numerical results (SWAN-1D).
