Abstract

The experiences of two large research projects, "Archimedes" and "LoDist" form the background for a discussion of collaborative projects involving universities and industry. Administrative, financial, and scientific matters are discussed and the solutions presented. The main scientific results are presented or referenced and the industrial implications are indicated.
