Abstract
The evolution of the Danish co-operative sector is analysed by means of the concepts of commons. In conclusion it is stated that 1. the relation between commons and community must be conscious and explicit, 2. principles for the administration of the common space must be institutionalised, 3. the institutionalisation is depending on context. For the Danish co-operative sector it is concluded har the context has changed so that it no longer support the co-operatives as commons.
