Measurements made in experimental building projects with glazed-in extensions show that it is possible to obtain large energy savings. This is accomplished by glazed-in extensions, by utilizing passive solar heat gains for preheating the ventilation air, by replacing the windows and by establihsing energy alarms. At the same time it was possible to avoid many typical defects in this type of extensions. The summer temperature in the extensions can be kept at a moderate level, for instance by establishing a moderte level of natural ventilation and solar shading.
