Highlights
•A 1-min resolution household electricity load model is presented.
•Model adapts a bottom-up approach with single appliance as the main building block.
•Load profiles are used to analyse the flexibility potential of household appliances.
•Load profiles can be applied in other domains, e.g. building energy simulations.
•The demand level of houses with different number of occupants is well captured.
