Abstract

An AC-fed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive system easily suffers from fluctuating DC-Link voltage, which causes current ripple at low frequency. Current compensation and modulation index compensation are commonly used to suppress the ripple current. Normally, it is hard to realize modulation index compensation for a PMSM drive system without DC voltage sensor. To solve this issue, this paper proposes a ripple current suppression method based on power current control, which ingeniously incorporates both modulation index compensation and current compensation. The power current loop is integrated between the speed and q-axis current loops to reject the ripple current. The parameter design of power current compensator is implemented with frequency response analysis to strike a balance between the control bandwidth and the antidisturbance capability. Additionally, a voltage observer is proposed based on power current control, enabling modulation index compensation using observed voltage. Utilizing the capabilities of power current control, the proposed method significantly enhances ripple current suppression.
