Abstract

Economic growth and the basis for welfare are depending on the ability to produce and utilise knowledge. The inherently necessary innovationproces depends on a strong education and research environment, including business (public and private) and universities. Associations such as ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) can promote such cooperation locally and globally. Not least poor countries will profit from such linkage to the benefit of both development and environment.
