Abstract
This paper investigates the dynamic characteristics of a coaxial magnetic gear (CMG) system by using the analytical model of the CMG, which provides a quick and accurate method to predict the dynamic performance of the CMG. The dynamic characteristics under different conditions such as start-up and the abrupt load changes are studied. Moreover, the dynamic pull-out torque which may cause loss of synchronism for the CMG is also estimated by simulation. The dynamic pull-out torque which is smaller than the static pull-out torque, is relative to additional sudden load, changing rate of load and external load at the start-up time instant.
