Abstract

There has been a growing political interest in changing the health profile of the deprived areas in Denmark. However, only little is known about the actual health of people living in these areas, despite the fact that the social inequality of health in the Danish population is well-documented. We provide an overview of significant studies which illustrate the interaction between residents' health and their neighbourhoods as well as their socioeconomic characteristics. We find that there are no previous quantitative empirical studies on residents' health in deprived neighbourhoods in Denmark.
