Abstract

This paper investigates continuous-time LPV dynamic-output feedback for controlling a type 2 diabetes patients' fasting glucose concentration. To emulate a real life scenario, the input and measurement were specified only once per day, and biological variance was introduced. The results were evaluated by examining the settling time, variance after settling, and the violation of the nominal fasting glucose concentration range of 4 - 5 [mmol/l]. The LPV dynamic-output feedback controller was compared to a simple rule based titration algorithm and a PI controller tuned by LPV methods. The LPV dynamic-output feedback controller, proved to deliver better results, in particular for the transient period.
