Abstract
Vincent van Gogh had a short and dramatic life. He died of suicide as 37 years old - and his many great paintings were produced in only ten years. This essay is a psychobiograhic analysis of the reasons behind his mental crises and selfmutilating behavior. It was written as a thesis to certify the author as an analytic therapist - after two years education at the Danish C.G.Jung Institute.
