Abstract

This paper aims to shed light on the entrepreneurial motivation and ESG adoption intersection within the context of a luxury-based hotel. Concentration is on a new venture in the luxury sector, with a specific focus on the world’s most sustainable luxury-based hotel, averaging at a retail price of $4,000 USD per one evening hotel stay. The uncovered empirical evidence and the emerging theory of entrepreneurship motivation and ESG adoption intersection in the luxury-based hotel sector offers insight into this substantive juncture. Still, it also provides a foundation for future research of ESG integration in luxury entrepreneurship. Our preliminary data suggests the luxurious constituent of entrepreneurship can drive personal brand status and fame in the eyes of consumers, but also other stakeholders (e.g., the industry and the media), despite not being an immediate underlying motivator for creating a luxury-based new venture, such as a luxury hotel.
