Abstract
A free music improvisor, composer and researcher states memoirs and insights from more than five decades, starting in the nineteen sixties. Not least as an organiser of music events, Bergstroem-Nielsen has been in touch with a large number of colleagues, from Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage and Chr. Wolff to countless lesser-known others who have inspired him in his career. From his long experience and his archive, he documents in glimpses how the Copenhagen scene has developed. On the basis of his extensive readings and publications and what is likely the largest bibliography of his day on free improvised music and open music composition, he states his own insights and reflections about these fields in a non-academic way.
