Novel Non-Isolated Quad-Switched Inductor Double-Switch Converter for DC Microgrid Application

Abstract

In DC microgrid, the combination of energy source, especially renewable with the unit for storage and utility load rely heavily upon the electronics power converters. This paper proposes a novel DC to DC converter called Quad-Switched-Inductor Double-Switch (QSI-DS) converter for microgrid voltage step-up applications. The non-isolated topology utilizes Quad-Switched-Inductors network to develop to proposed converter configuration to achieve high voltage gain. Two switches used to control the flow of energy from input to the output of the converter. Reduced voltage stress across the switches and high gain are the merits of the proposed converter in this work. Principle of operation for continuous, and discontinues modes of the suggested converter, also elaborated. Analysis for gain calculation, comparison with recently suggested converters is presented. The theoretical analysis and performance of the suggested topology of converter validated through Simulink model.
