Abstract

The challenges and learning experiences of the novice psychotherapist are multiple and divergent. Based upon personal experiences from an internship at the University Clinic in Aalborg this article addresses key elements in the learning process at a University Clinic: supervision, personal analysis and psychotherapy. Furthermore the challenges of the novice psychotherapist are discussed i.e. integration of theory, practice and personal authenticity, development of a professional identity and anxiety management. Finally the future of University Clinics is discussed.
