Abstract

In many processing plants decanter systems are used for separation of heterogeneous mixtures, and even though they account for a large fraction of the energy consumption, most decanters just runs at a fixed set-point. Here, multi model estimation is applied to a waste water treatment plant, and it is shown using real production data, that it is possible online to distinguish between different operating modes, which can be used in the control strategy for energy optimization.
