Abstract

The focus groups (FG) are a “carefully planned series of discussions designed to obtain perceptions on a defined area of interest in a permissive, non-threatening environment” (Krueger and Casey, 2000). The aim of the FG is to raise a discussion among the participants that makes the research to see a certain phenomenon from the participants’ perspective.
In Periscope the Focus Group Methodology (FGM) will be used as a supplement to the quantitative methods in order to obtaining background information on health behavior in the institutions as well as in the family. In addition it will be used to explain and understand findings obtained from quantitative methods and it will be used to generate new ideas and identify solutions to barriers and
constrains for healthy behavior in 3-6 year old children.
This protocol provides the same framework to each of the three countries participants.
