This entry provides a selective overview of sport studies that involve notions of the possible and demonstrates its developmental, experiential and performative potentials. First, the entry outlines different perspectives on sport performance in competitive interaction sports that exhibits the importance of engaging with the possible during the game. It continues with a brief review of existential perspectives that see athletes as possible selves. Last but not least, it highlights sport coaching frameworks that may be used to help athletes engage with the possible. The entry is finalized with a call for more empirical research on the possible in sport.
