Abstract

The Mooring Solution for Large Wave Energy Converter project focused on the estimation and optimisation of the mooring cost for four selected Danish wave energy converters. In the project, single converters have been used as case studies. Since the WECs studied are single units, their associated cost of energy is not aligned with the long term expected market cost.

In order to extend the work carried out during the project the aim of this work is to look at cost reduction opportunities related to mass production of the selected WECs. The analysis will focus on reduction of the capital expenditure of the project, with specific focus on the costs associated to the mooring components, with no indication of cost saving opportunities of operational costs, which, nevertheless, could have an important impact in the project.
