Abstract

This paper presents an overview of stability analysis techniques and instability mitigation methods for modern converter-based power systems. It provides a literature review covering state-of-the-art of stability analysis and instability mitigation methods for power systems dominated by converters. Some aspects of modelling and analysis methods are discussed and aided by examples. The paper explains available methods for stability analyses and for instability mitigation together with their advantages and disadvantages. Guidelines regarding the general approach to such studies as well as system design are provided in the paper.
