Abstract
Lifelines and, in particular, transportation networks play a critical role in the economy of any nation. Moreover, after the strike of extreme events, such as earthquakes and floods, the high resilience of the civil infrastructure systems is required for the prompt response of the emergency activities and for the recovery of the region in the following months.
