Abstract

Schools are institutions established and run as part of public education systems and the features and activities of schools are regulated by state policy on curriculum and teaching, children and parent rights, school funding and organization, teacher education and other aspects. Historically, the Danish public school has been characterized by various forms of innovative activities initiated by public as well as private actors. But is innovation really necessary, and if so, for which purpose?
