Abstract
Conversation groups for children and adolescents are increasingly offered at Danish schools, where the intervention is led by either teachers or pedagogues. The intervention is offered, respectively, to children and adolescents in mourning due to death in the family or parental divorce. The purpose of this literature review is to identify and disseminate research that examines school-organized conversation groups for children and adolescents in grief or divorce. What do we know about this new practice from other countries? How do conversation groups help children and adolescents? Is there an increase in wellbeing among this target group? Conversation groups in schools are increasingly gaining ground in Denmark, and we find it relevant to investigate the knowledge about this type of interventions, and whether this literature review can qualify the work of school-based conversation groups. We have conducted an integrative systematic literature review in international databases. The conclusion is that school-based conversation groups are based on different research designs, methods, and approaches, making them difficult to compare. Moreover, most articles are not valid, which means that the results cannot be immediately transferred to the other studies. In conclusion, there are no international studies that are completely comparable to the Danish conversation group effort
