Abstract

Despite its rapid growth, tourism has shown only modest success in addressing the issues of poverty and hunger in Asia and the Pacific. Community-based tourism (CBT) is a type of social entreprise that fosters cross-sectoral partnerships between government, business and the community. This chapter discusses development of 15 sustainable CBT projects in Vietnam, thus contributing to improvement in the lives of many communities living in poverty-stricken areas
