Abstract

In this paper, we present a control interface, which applies the hand claps of the user as control input. With this system, we aim at providing more realistic and engaging control over the output. We present three exemplary use cases: controlling a synthetic audience, controlling the tempo of a musical piece, and controlling a simple sampler. Qualitative evaluation shows that the system performs well in the use cases. The control interface has potential in other types of human-computer interaction as well.
